Top 3 ways to spend your stimulus

stimulus money

The COVID Relief bill has been passed and the second round of stimulus checks are currently being distributed to millions of Americans. This round of payments will be for $600 per eligible adult, plus $600 for each child for families and individuals who meet the income criteria set by Congress. If the money isn’t already on its way to pay rent or a credit card, we have some ideas to make the most of it to begin the New Year.

Here are our top 3 ways to spend your stimulus check.

#1 – Start or add to your emergency fund

This is certainly the most responsible option on our list and should be a must if you don’t currently have a rainy day fund established. The $600 check should be a decent start or addition to a fund that could help cover 3-6 months of expenses in a time of need.

#2 – Support neighborhood businesses

As convenient as Amazon is, local businesses in your area are in desperate need of your business. Take a minute to explore some local shops that you wouldn’t normally visit and support your favorite restaurants while you’re enjoying a little bit of fresh air.

#3 – Plan or Save for a trip

Eventually the world will return to normal and we will see a mad rush to book hotels, flights, and trips. Planning a vacation early while rates are cheap could help stretch the $600 stimulus and provide some well needed soul healing once it’s safe to resume life as it once was.
